Hydrocarbon Dew Point

Gas processing Β· Peng-Robinson EOS Β· ISO 18453 context

Hydrocarbon Dew Point β€” Peng-Robinson
Multicomponent dew-point temperature and cricondentherm from the Peng-Robinson cubic EOS. Enter the gas composition (mol%) and pressure.
Screening β€” Peng-Robinson, not GERG-2008. This uses the PR cubic EOS as a screening approximation (validated vs pure-component vapor pressures within ~1 Β°C for propane/butane). For custody-transfer / pipeline-spec hydrocarbon dew point use GERG-2008 (ISO 18453) software with a measured extended (C9+) analysis. Water dew point is not computed.

Engineering Basis

  • Peng-Robinson (1976) cubic EOS with van der Waals mixing (kij = 0).
  • Dew-point T at fixed P: Ξ£(zi/Ki) = 1, Ki = Ο†iL/Ο†iV (successive substitution).
  • Cricondentherm = maximum dew-point T over a 50–1400 psia scan.
  • C₇+ modelled as an n-heptane proxy; water dew point not included.
  • Standards: Peng-Robinson 1976, ISO 18453 (reference), GPSA EDB 14th Ed Β§25.
