Engineering Basis
ยง192.712: assess cracks with a technically-proven fracture-mechanics model appropriate to the failure mode (ductile/brittle/both).
Cyclic-susceptible defects: fatigue analysis via Paris' law (or equivalent).
Remaining life = time for the crack to grow to a size that fails at MAOP; reassess before 50% of remaining life.
Detection: EMAT/UT crack ILI for SCC; seam ILI + hydrostatic spike test for LF-ERW seam & selective seam corrosion.
