HP per MMscfd is a quick estimation of the horsepower required per million standard cubic feet per day of gas flow for a reciprocating compressor.
This method is ideal for budgetary sizing and field estimates when detailed compressor performance data is not yet available.
It requires suction/discharge pressure, flow rate, specific heat ratio (k), Z-factor, and isentropic efficiency; it uses the GPSA Section 13 adiabatic gas-HP equation.
